Electricity matters

The charging power of an Electric car at a household socket is equivalent to 10 hours of using the small stove.
The charging power of an Electric car as an average at the household socket (2.3 kW) can be compared to the power of a small stove. To fully charge the battery (24 kWh), you need about 10 hours at the household socket. This is equivalent to a small electric stove for over 10 hours. Would you do this to your household outlet? The answer is probably "no." But why not? An electric car charges for several hours with a charging power of 2.3 kW and thus completely exhausts the maximum power of your household socket. But this is not what it is designed for.

Charging an electric car is not comparable to most other electrical items that are charged daily at the wall socket. Normal electric devices consume less compared to the charging power of an electric car. It should be noted in particular that a hair dryer or vacuum cleaner only draws power from the socket for a few minutes under full load, but the electric car is plugged in and charging for several hours. The cables and especially junctions in junction boxes become warm to very hot the longer the current flows and there is a risk of the cable burning. If you connect the electric car to an older outlet or house wiring, the danger becomes even clearer. In the best case, the fuse blows, otherwise the socket or cable melts.
